NASA and General Motors have combined forces to developed and produce Robonaut 2 a.k.a. R2, a second gen humanoid robot intended to assist humans in space. Even without working legs, R2 has the ability to lift up to 20lbs on either arm, and function in environments too hazardous for us mere humans.
