It was a hot balmy night for the years most active event in Jamaica after the Reggae Sunfest. It had to be at least 85 degrees when we arrived fashionable late to Pier 1 at 10:30, and with the event planned for a 9:00 headline — all that temperature was stirring the crowd into a fervent turmoil. There was easily 30,000 brethren eagerly anticipating the pelvic grinds and thrusts from the worlds most talented ladies, and if the Babylon’s un-holstered M4s could speak, they would of belched out patois in accordance with the crowds.
An indigenous version of Cedric The Entertainer struck up the crowd with a bevy of insults as the DJ layered on familiar Elephant Man riddims, and engulfed us in a cloud of long legged, (and not so long legged) feisty women. Each grasping on to the dream of being crowned Miss International DanceHall Queen 2008. A title not easily accomplished, a golden road paved with the task of multiple handstands, gratuitous jelly shaking, and strutting in the necessary scantily clad attire.
So what would you have us do? We’re in the VIP with the like of Lennox Millier & Ben Davis and there’s nothing but the most beautiful women you’ve ever imagined, NWS presents to you the compilation of the show. We literally had roughly 900 pictures, so we rolled them up into this presentation after the break, stay tuned for some actual footage too…
