So roughly a month ago Dwele G performed a plethora of his classics at the Temple Bar in Santa Monica. And after you catch the bit of his performance we’ve provided, you’ll wonder why the craft of crooning no longer exist. Dwele did it how your suppose to, he engaged participation from both brothas and the sistas, and had all witnesses vibin’ (DJ Quik was in the house too, you’ll catch him in the lower right bobbin’ his head). So catch his latest SoCal performance of joints such as ‘Flap Jacks’, ‘I think I love you’ & even a brief Slum Village tribute, all after the break…

If your a James Yancy (R.I.P.) fan to any degree, your eyes will definitely light up once you give this joint a play. ‘Workin’ On It’ is featured on “Sketches Of A Man” Dwele’s third studio album in stores right now, & can you name the J-Dilla/SV tracks paid homage to in this joint?

The brotha Dwele debuts his first single off of his 3rd studio album “Sketches Of A Man” (official album cover above) slated to drop, June 24, 2008. Check the official video below the break, and revisit my initial thoughts on this joint.

The hardest working man in Neo Soul returns to the game with “I’m Cheatin’, a rather peculiar track, but Dwele G is known to push the boundaries when it comes to his lyrical content. If you have been following NWS’s Dwele coverage, you’ve heard me mention how slept on of an artist he is, but his time to shine might just be on the way (Although a cameo in the ‘Flashing Lights’ video would of been a good look…).

Dwele’s first, not officially released album was “Rize” (which you can download here, since you can’t legitimately purchase it anywhere), second was “Subject“, and third was “Some Kinda…“. Now ‘I’m Cheatin” is the first single of his upcoming fourth album “Sketches of A Man”, slated for a release June 24th. The track also isn’t your run of the mill confessional tune e.g. Donnell Jones’ ‘where I wanna be‘, but once the chorus comes around for the third time, you’ll realize its much more along the lines of the memorable scene from “Don’t Be A Menace To South Central While Drinking Your Juice In The Hood (4:15)“…

Ah.. So this is the absolute banger Miss Info spoke of in her “Graduation” screening review. And aftering hearing it folks, I have her exact sentiments towards it, instant classic. Ye’ got the brotha Dwele on the hook too? Thats a good look, its been past due for Dwele to get his shine, especialy after dropping two consecutive classic albums don’t you think? Don’t be stupid on 9.11 folks, chose wisely and responsively…

It seems like everyone is coming out out of the wood works this year, and apparently signing to Koch. Mega is back and the track is hot no doubt, but unfortunately its not Mega that makes this song, its Dwele. His flow is way too irregular on this track, this production would of been better suited for someone like Nas… Yea, Nasir would of killed this track. Anyways ‘Sleep Well’ is the new single from Cormega’s upcoming DVD/Soundtrack entitled “Who Am I” dropping October, i’ll keep you posted on that…

(Random Banger #35) Dwele - ‘Lay it down’

If you haven’t had the pleasure of listening to any of my dude Dwele’s music I’m said to say folks, but your deprived, and definitely don’t know what your missing. Dwele’s status in the game has been somewhat uncanny, hes known, but not. Dwele lingers in the purgatory between mainstream and underground, although he does have a very loyal fan base (me included) which is a blatant indicator of his talent, and the quality he puts forth. Hes worked with everyone from Styles P to Slum Villa and I hope one day he’ll acquire that platinum plaque he deserves.

‘Lay it down’ is my favorite joint off his album “Some Kinda…” and its rated GTGTD… I’ll elaborate on that a bit later, but if your intelligent you’ll figure out that acronym… Enjoy the music…

The brotha Com always comes correct in his videos, as he should. But he ain’t negative so he’ll never get the publicity that he deserves, ‘The People’ is Common’s official single and definitely my favorite out of the few tracks I’ve posted here off “Finding Forever”. One of my most anticipated albums of the year, can’t wait to see what the rest of it has in store. After you watch the video after the jump tell me whats wrong with it.
