The world’s greatest detective will finally meet his fate in Grant Morrisons’s “Batman: RIP” dropping February 10th, 2009. In the highly controversial new storyline Bruce, who initially appeared in 1939, is murked by Simon Hurt – the leader of the dubious Black Glove organization. Simon proclaims he’s actually the late Dr. Thomas Wayne, who faked his own death when Bruce was young, and the caped crusader will die when he tries to stop the villain fleeing. Don’t for a second think that the death equates the end for the dark night, as it is only the beginning, or genesis to an entirely new story. The character of Batman will be reincarnated with probably one of Robin iterations…

The general consensus says Bruce Wayne’s transportation of choice The Tumbler is downright cool. So what if it got zapped by the Autobot’s & Decepticon’s most treasured procession, the Allspark? well we suppose it would look a little somethin’, somethin’ like the fan creation above.

For those unaware, Bruce Wayne’s Tumbler (elaborated upon in Batman Begins as a bridging vehicle), is actually a real car completely built from the ground up. You can bet Toyota’s Racing & Warner Bros acknowledged that fact when they brought it to Silverstone raceway last week for a few runs. Check the footage out below, and they also brought the BatPod — but word on the street is no one can successfully ride that joint.

Yes the original, before the series became completely flamboyant (seriously, a modern convertible Batmobile had to be the most ridiculous idea ever) and had to be redone. But if you have a spare $500,000 laying about, the Dark Knight’s ol’ school whip of choice can be yours via Ebay. There’s no doors, and you have to jump through the roof superhero style to pilot this bad boy, but I’m sure the ladies will love that. The 20-foot long Batmobile hides a 5.7L Chevy small-block under the hood, and as Autoblog mentions, hasn’t been driven in 5 years. Check out the gallery after the jump, and there’s no word if if carries those infamous wall breaching gatling guns like in the flick…
