Microsoft has taken an entirely new direction in advertisements, to hedge against all of that negative pub spewing out of essentially every Apple commercial. The big MS has decided to omit software specifics and superiority, and focus on the individuals that use their product. Being that Pharrell is a producer/musician, There’s more of a chance he uses Apple more so then PC, but the commercial is still informative. Catch it after the break for an in-depth look at the concept behind “N.E.R.D.” - Nobody. Ever. Really. Dies.
pharrell is playing the shit outta microsoft, as well as all PC manufacturers. he doesn’t use PC’s! at all! he even says the word “iPod” on the N*E*R*D song “anti-matter” on the new album. but uh, $$$ in the bank though. no complaints on his side, i’m sure.
speaking of N*E*R*D, somebody told me him and chad were beefing like steak. any words on this, NWS!?
what the hell is pharrell talkin bout? he might wanna do some research on his pc… he should know einstein did not say energy can not be created or destroyed…that is just the 1st law of thermodynamics…i thought everyone knew that! lol i kinda see what he is trying so desparately trying to articulate…oh my goodness to these artists and their corporate sponsored philosophies…
i still love him and his nerdy swag though..and his songs kick ass and make me dance
the 1st law of thermodynamics is the conservation of energy, i know that much and if u dont know than i am sorry for u sweetie and didnt he just say at :28 that “einstein said that energy couldnt be created or destroyed”…i think he kept my attention for that long…that is what the whole commercial/philosophy is about about the transfer of energy and we are all energy and whatever else he said…i am just sayin…it is a little blooper on his part…
yeah i like him and buy his albums and would still probably burst into tears if he ever came within arms length of me…i just learned that in my freshman chem class that i absolutely hated and it stuck with me, lol.
“Corporate sponsored philosophy” is a bit of a misnomer, no?… Seeing as how the acronym, and the philosophy behind it came well before the commercial…
Furthermore, regardless of who originally stated the notion (which goes back to ancient philosophers)… His point is not voided. I think the man just dropped knowledge.
Even though the acronym and the philosophy were precursors to the commercial, the present use is of commercial identity, a correlation that MS is broadcasting specifically with Pharrell, and N.E.R.D. - so figuratively and literally it is correct. But I concur, he did drop know.ledge.
I won’t belabor this point (as I am told I do oft times… lol)… But I will say that I think it’s more about the “identity” than it is about the “philosophy.” Meaning, I don’t think Pharrell’s views have anything to do w/ the fact that MS is paying him for this commercial… And one the other side, I dont think MS necessarily even cares what his philosophy is per se… But moreso that Pharrell is Pharrell. He could have talked about a million other things and they still would get the desired effect. (I.E. I hadn’t even seen this full ad on TV… But I have seen the one where he gets a short clip in a montage of people saying “I’m a PC” and I think both commercials communicate the same thing.)
