NYU Interactive Telecommunications Program grad student Eyal Ohana conceptualized “Axolotl” while brainstorming ways to portray life and instigate reaction through motion and form. The end result? A 3D audiovisual display enticing pasyerbys with a computerized aquatic being that responds to facial recognition. Favoring that of a friendly squid, catch the “Axolotl” in action below…

Looking to expand your range of vision while computing? Looking no further then Samsung’s AMOLED Notebook, which PlusPlasticElectronics notes is set to release within a year. OLED-Info also mentions that Samsung wants to dominate the transparent display market, meaning releasing atypical products such as a transparent automobile navigation system to be placed on a windscreen… No word on an OLED tablet though, and we don’t think the masses are quite ready for that!

NASA and General Motors have combined forces to developed and produce Robonaut 2 a.k.a. R2, a second gen humanoid robot intended to assist humans in space. Even without working legs, R2 has the ability to lift up to 20lbs on either arm, and function in environments too hazardous for us mere humans. Sent to Gizmodo as a response to the much deliberated question. “Just how will we be holding Apple’s Tablet”? Lex Lareo:
“If you look at the tablet concepts everywhere, they reduce the concept exclusively to the body of the tablet. Then the designers place a screen with a more or less Photoshopped version of : a) Mac OSX or b) Iphone OSX. But there is a problem with that approach: the way the UI elements are placed over the screen. For me the easiest way to grab the tablet is holding it with the two hands (six of your eleven photographs show that you seems to think the same way), so … why not put the controls in the area that your thumbs can reach them effortlessly?. I’ve developed a UI concept that solves that problem…”
