Original, action packed, immersive, and complete eye candy. Black Sun Entertainment’s recently released proof-of-concept video for “Azureus Rising” is intended to build a bit of publicity, as the studio intends to expand it into a feature film trilogy. Directed by David Weinstein and produced by a team of five individuals, this promo was completed in just a few months. We certainly hope “Azureus Rising” reaches fruition, and you’ll see why after watching the short below the break…

Independently produced by actor/director/martial artist Joey Ansah, the short film “Street Fighter: Legacy” will be available to watch online May 6th. And if you go by the insinuations of his official website, we’ll also have the pleasure of seeing a live action Akuma! Now, we can’t be too picky… but we’ll be throughly disappointed if we don’t get a see a live version of “Shun Goku Satsu“, right? Thats an impressive aspiration to say the least, and is also what creator/screenwriter Haylar Garcia hopes “A.D.” (his animated zombie short film) will manifest into. There’s a possibility this project will never see completion as “A.D.” is currently sans-studio status, but we’ll definitely keep you posted on development. Initially I was bit hesitant on M. Night’s live adaptation of the widley popular American animation “Avatar: Airbender”. The Show was brilliant written and executed from start till finish… Was a live adaptation even really necessary? Well after watching this official Superbowl trailer, i’ll have to say, “Yes indeed.”. Mr. Shyamalan’s choice of casting is still rather questionable, and even a bit conversional, but regardless it looks plain fun. Unveiled at the last Comic Con, this gorgeous life-sized representation of the Light Cycle 2.0 unfortunately doesn’t work as depicted, but is solely for promotional purposes. Written and directed by Wanuri Kahiu, “Pumzi” is in fact Kenya’s very first science fiction film, and we can hope will not be the last. Wired reports:

“Pumzi imagines a dystopian future 35 years after water wars have torn the world apart. East African survivors of the ecological devastation remain locked away in contained communities, but a young woman in possession of a germinating seed struggles against the governing council to bring the plant to Earth’s ruined surface…”

Now playing at Sundance five times between Friday and Jan. 30, director Kahiu’s future plans include expanding Pumzi to feature length film as well as cultivating her local film community.

Inspired by “Akira” the classic anime and manga, it was shot 90% guerrilla meaning the only 10% we got permission for was the Bar scene. Equipment includes a Canon xh-a1 along with the letus extreme for select shots, and the canon 5d mark 2. Software includes: Adobe After Effects, Premiere and Photoshop…

We intended on making a “real” live action Akira to the best of our ability. We’ve acknowledged that there are far too many “live action” Akira shorts in which they simulated or rendered Kaneda’s Motorcycle into a scene, but doing so compromised showing Kaneda actually riding it, so we decided on going with an actual Motorcycle. We also wanted to have our own story since too many individuals have attempted to make a live adaptation of the original Anime.
