Rik Cordero and Tip the Abstract collaborated to create this music video for ‘Renaissace Rap’ the titled track off Q-Tip’s “The Renaissance“. It’s a romp through NY filled with ATM robberies, secret agents, and ends with the appropiate MPC. Experience it after the jump and the “The Renaissance” is in stores now, it’s definitely what Hip-Hop has been missing…

These felt bacon Ipod/Iphone cases aren’t for everyone, but then again we do have people with bizarre, carnivorous food fetishes. No two cases are alike but each are seamless and felted in one piece. So… what will a bacon wrapped gizmo cost you? A paltry 25 euros to cop, a there’s few more examples after the jump. Inquirers visit the official product page here, and “Aslam Alaikum & I don’t eat bacon…”

R.I.P. To The Ol’ Dirty Bastard…

Today is the 4th anniversary of the passing of Ol’ Dirty Bastard, and we here at NWS wanted to take a moment to remember one of Wu-Tangs most controversial and prolific members. I never had the pleasure of being introduced to O.D.B. through his breakout album “Return To the 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version“, but instead through his sophomore album “Nigga Please“, which I banged almost everyday of my senior year in high school. It was his unique delivery, and vibrant enthusiasm that gave me one of the the most necessary standards to this day that I judge upcoming MC’s upon. So in remembrance of The Osiris, here is one of his first television performances of none other than ‘Brooklyn Zoo’…

So this is a straight up drag race between 4 of the fastest sports cars that are on the road today. Who do you think comes out on top? My personal favorite the Nissan GT-Rhas been making waves lately, and is the most economic of the bunch holding down just 480 HP, but will it be a match for the swole Corvette ZR1 rolling with 638-hp under the hood? Lets not forget that the Ferrari and Porsche are no slouches ether. They each arrive with 612 HP, and 530 HP respectively coming in at over $100,000. But in the end this race isn’t about pricings, its about speed. Make the jump to find out who comes out top dog…

Q-Tip - ‘Go NY Go’ (Video)

This track right here is actually the official 2008-2009 game opener for the Knicks, penned by Kamal The Abstract. It’s actually a new version of their nineties-era team song, “Go NY Go”, but the correlation between team and producer is uncanny. The coincidence of the matter is that the last time the Knicks were news worthy was back in 1999, with LJ’s 4 point play, and simultaneously Q-tip’s Vibrant Thing, was topping the charts. Now fast forward to the present, Q-Tip once again is poised to release his album, and the Knicks are flossing their hew head coach Mike D’Antoni. Will success strike in both occurrences twice?

That’s right, the Hollywood Reporter recently addressed the news that the illustrious Samuel L Jackson has recently signed on to a remake of The Last Dragon. He will play none other than Sho Nuff, the meanest, the prettiest, and the baddest mofo lowdown this side of town. Kerry Gordy, the son of the original “Dragon” director, will be producing the film in tandem with Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA.  The plot will be relatively the same,  focusing on young martial arts student Leroy Green in his quest through the streets of New York to achieve the highest level of martial arts accomplishment, and become the Last Dragon. This cult hit will be in theaters next year on the 50th anniversary of Motown, so what better way to honor with a movies that evokes all the nostalgia of the Motown Golden Era. This ain’t the first time someone else has played Sho Nuff either, do any of y’all remember this?

“Hipsters” in Space, Is Just Another Day In The Streets Of L.A. (Video)

This past year has seen the rise of this some what controversial “Hipster” label, and in hindsight it’s just comical. Countless Hip-Hop purveyors whether online or off have consistently attempted to place linear definitions on this new trend, to no avail. Folks says it’s killing Hip-Hop, rappers call them teh ghey… But whatever the case is, I’m going to put and end to this ridiculous hoopla. Hipster simply put, is the lifestyle of Los Angeles, period.

Hipster is far from a rap trend, in fact it has nothing to do with Hip-Hop really. Pseudo-intellectuals have tried to over analyze it (minus Jay Smooth), but it’s really not that complicated. Just walk down to Atwater Village, or Echo Park, and you’ll see the all the fashion & lifestyle trends the alleged “Hipster Rappers” have been emulating. In fact, here’s a comical animation of LA natives or so called “Hipsters in Space”, and it’s closer to the truth then what a majority of ya’ll have heard thus far.
